Martin Compston has addressed rumours that Line of Duty is set to return.

After many were left feeling unsatisfied by the ending of the sixth series in May 2021, fans have been hoping to see Compston alongside Vicky McClure and Adrian Dunbar back on their screens as the anti-corruption cops.

The trio have also been pictured together in recent months which has led to more speculation about the much-loved show.

But the Greenock actor has admitted that while they would all like to film more episodes, nothing has been set in stone yet with the show's creator Jed Mercurio.

Speaking on his Restless Natives podcast with Gordon Smart, Martin recalled a recent reunion they all had which Gordon was there for.

He said: "I knew Line of Duty would come up because there was that headline that came up over Christmas saying we were coming back for series 7.

"None of us have agreed on anything, we’d all like to do more but it’s a case of getting us all together, but you knew that already and you knew that for a while because you were at the actual meeting.

"It was myself, Vicky, Adrian and Jed and you and Kate."

"I knew you were intrigued to hear it but I could also see you going in your head ‘f*** if anything comes out about this I’ll get the blame'."

Gordon replied: "I know! And that stuff is so hard to keep a secret."
