A BODY has been found in the search for a missing Glasgow woman.

We previously reported that Shona McKenna, 46, had been reported missing from the Shettleston area.

She had not been seen since January 4 when she was spotted walking along Tollcross Road near Carmyle Avenue at around 12.40pm.

Police had launched a search and Glasgow comedian Susie McCabe, whose partner is friends with Shona, encouraged her followers to share the appeal.

Today, the force has confirmed that they had found a body in the River Clyde near Dalmarnock.

While she is still to be identified formally, they believe the person to be Shona.

There do not appear to be any suspicious circumstances.

McCabe shared the tragic news with her followers on Twitter this evening.

She wrote: "Hi folks, thanks to everyone who retweeted the posts about Shona.

"Today we received some terrible news and a lot of people are hurting. Please if you are struggling, please know there are organisations that can help."
