TWO men have been taken to hospital following a fire in the city's Southside. 

Emergency services were called to Leslie Street, in Pollokshields, at around 4.20am this morning after receiving a report of a blaze on the ground floor of a block of flats. 

Two men were taken to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital for treatment following the incident.

Their condition is not known. 

Five fire engines were sent to the scene and firefighters extinguished the blaze. 

One fire appliance is still at the scene to ensure the area is safe.

An investigation into the cause of the fire is underway. 

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "We received a report of a fire at a property on Leslie Street, Glasgow, around 4.20am on Friday, January 20, 2023.

"Emergency services attended and two men were taken to hospital for treatment.

"Enquiries into the cause of the fire are ongoing."

A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: "We were alerted at 3.17am on Friday, January 20 to reports of a fire within a block of flats in Glasgow.

"Operations Control mobilised five appliances to the city's Leslie Street, where firefighters were met by a fire on the building's ground floor.

"Firefighters thereafter extinguished the fire and worked to make the area safe.

"Two casualties were transferred to Glasgow's Queen Elizabeth University Hospital by paramedics.

"One fire appliance currently remains on the scene to ensure the area is safe."
