A TOP hairstylist has hung up his scissors after almost half a century in the industry.
Derek Edward McCulloch has closed his popular Derek Edward salon in Strathblane which he ran since 1975.
Originally from Birmingham, Derek trained with industry giants like Michael Heely and mixed with some of the best in the UK hair industry including London's Mayfair.
After moving to Scotland with his wife Julia and their two sons, Derek lived in Bearsden before arriving in Strathblane and becoming a much-loved character in the village.
Derek counts being an Elvis impersonator and meeting the Beatles in 1962 among his greatest achievements - although it has not been revealed if he ever chopped their mops.
In his retirement, he will be kept busy with his family, including five grandsons.
