A prisoner who was convicted in Glasgow has died in custody.
Paul McEwan Lindsay was serving a seven-year sentence at HMP Addiewell in West Calder.
He had been convicted at the Glasgow High Court in 2019 of assaulting a man to the danger of his life at an address in Kelvin Gardens, Hamilton in June 2018.
Lindsay died on January 31, 2023, at the age of 31.
The Scottish Prison Service (SPS) confirmed that police had been made aware of the death and it has been reported to the procurator fiscal.
A fatal accident inquiry will be held in relation to Lindsay's death.
A SPS spokesperson said: "Paul McEwan Lindsay, 31, prisoner at HMP Addiewell died on 31 January 2023.
"He was convicted at Glasgow High Court in 2019.
"Police Scotland have been notified and the matter reported to the Procurator Fiscal.
"A Fatal Accident Inquiry will be held in due course."
