A jealous thug who brutally assaulted his lover was jailed on Tuesday for 20 months.

Scott Brown, 36, turned on the woman at their home in Glasgow's Penilee on October 6 2022.

Enraged Brown questioned the woman's infidelity before attacking her to the ground.

Brown went on to stamp on and kick his partner's head causing two haematomas.

Brown pleaded guilty at Glasgow Sheriff Court to assaulting the woman to her injury.

He also admitted behaving in a threatening or abusive manner towards her.

Both charges are aggravated by abuse involving a partner or ex-partner.

The court heard that the pair were in a relationship for 23 years.

The pair were with another man in the flat when an argument broke out between them.

Prosecutor Hannah Sweeney said: "Brown accused her of seeing someone else behind his back while he was on remand."

The woman denied the accusations which made Brown more enraged and stated: "I'm going to kill you."

Miss Sweeney added: "He grabbed her by the hair and punched her on the face.

"He struggled with her and caused her to fall to the floor.

"While on the floor, he jumped on the victim's head and kicked her to the head repeatedly."

The other man managed to separate Brown from the woman.

The victim shouted for help from a window before she was dragged by the hair by Brown.

He then punched her again causing the victim to suffer a bloody nose.

An anonymous call alerted police who attended the flat and noted signs of a disturbance inside.

Brown was arrested after the woman told officers that she had been punched to the face.

Miss Sweeney told the court that the woman sustained a haematoma to the front and back of her head.

She also suffered swelling to the bridge of her nose as well as bruising to her upper arms and hand.

Stephen Bentley, defending, told the court that Brown's behaviour was completely unacceptable.

The lawyer added: "He is embarrassed and he is aware of this.

"He should not have aced like this towards his long-term partner."

Sheriff Iain Fleming told Brown that his behaviour was "totally appalling."

He also imposed an 18-month non-harassment order restricting Brown from entering the woman's new home.
