A MAN caught with drugs at his home was spared a tag as he needed to walk his dog at night.

Jason Cairns, 28, was snared with £900 of cannabis plants as well as 21 wraps of cannabis at the property in Glasgow's Tollcross on October 6 2020.

He pleaded guilty at Glasgow Sheriff Court to being concerned in the supply of cannabis.

The hearing was told by defence lawyer Ian McClelland that the drugs were for family and friends.

He attempted to persuade Sheriff Allan Findlay not to impose a restriction of liberty order keeping Cairns indoor at night.

He said: "He struggles with insomnia and was not able to get to bed before midnight.

"He does have a dog which does have needs."

Sheriff Findlay replied: "That's too bad.

"I'm not going to let that come in the way of a proper disposal."

Mr McClelland said: "He will have to have someone come round and let the dog out.

"He needs out at 11 at night.”

The sheriff decided not to tag Cairns and ordered him to do 250 hours of unpaid work.
