Two Glasgow postcodes are still experiencing power cuts this afternoon due to an underground cable fault.

The Glasgow Times previously reported that Scottish Power engineers were racing to restore power to areas across the city after an unexpected outage at around 7.30am.

While many areas are now back up and running, an 'emergency shutdown' to allow for repairs to an underground cable fault could still be causing issues for those living near Everard Drive in the north of Glasgow.

A spokesperson for Scottish Power said: "This is a message for customers in the G21 postcode area of Glasgow.

"It is necessary for our engineers to carry out an emergency shutdown at 11am to safely carry out repairs to an underground cable fault on Everard Drive and this may affect the supply to your property.

"We will work to get your power back on as quickly and as safely as possible by 3pm.

"We apologise for the inconvenience and thank you for your patience."

Postcodes affected are reported as G211UU, G211XG.
