TO mark World Book Day, the children of Stepps Primary were visited by Angela Proctor, author of the popular book series Thumble Tumble.

The books follow the adventures of a young witch from the magical Isle of Arran.

The pupils enjoyed reading with Angela, followed by an interactive role-play that was engaging for their imagination.

Barratt Developments donated the school 61 signed books from the series.

Estelle Sykes, sales director at Barratt Homes, said: “We hope the Thumble Tumble books we donated and the interactive session with Angela have helped inspire the pupils at Stepps Primary to become more engaged with reading as well as getting out and about to explore more of Scotland.”

The popularity of the series with schools across Scotland has led to their favourite character featuring on VisitScotland’s literary trails map.

Paul McKeever, headteacher at Stepps Primary, said: “We want to encourage pupils to read when they can and enjoy picking up a book. The books that have been kindly donated by Barratt Homes will be put to great use and have already proven popular with pupils!”
