A man has died after being struck by a car in Paisley.

The 37-year-old was walking on Causeyside Street on Saturday evening when he was hit by a silver Ford Fiesta.

Emergency services were called to the area at around 10.15pm.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene.

No others were injured.

Officers closed the road for six and a half hours to investigate the incident, and they are now calling upon potential witnesses to contact them with information that could prove vital.

Cops are particularly keen to hear from the drivers of two cars which stopped at the scene of the crash to help.

Sergeant Christopher Hoggans said: “Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the man who has died in this crash and our enquiries to establish the full circumstances are ongoing.

“We are asking for anyone who witnessed the incident, or who was in the area prior to the incident and who may be able to help to contact us.

“Two vehicles stopped to assist at the time and left prior to speaking with officers. I would appeal to those drivers and occupants to get in touch.

“I would also ask anyone with any dash cam footage or private CCTV which may assist us to contact us.”
