A talented DJ plans to hit the decks for a day in order to raise money for an amazing cause.

Davey Lockhart, from Milton of Campsie, will be running a 24-hour-long DJ set to raise funds for a community-led charity which provides a space for forcibly displaced people arriving in Glasgow.

Speaking with the Glasgow Times, the 45-year-old said: "With my job, I spend quite a bit of time on the city streets, and I encounter a lot of refugees begging for money.

"I can't afford to help out every person that asks, and so I've decided to raise money for a local refugee charity instead by djing for 24hrs.

"Refugees get a lot of bad press from certain areas of the media but Glaswegians are typically very welcoming people and I hope that most people can see past the propaganda."

Glasgow Times:

Davey, who has been a DJ for 26 years after getting his first set of decks in 1996, decided to raise money for Refuweegee for a number of reasons.

He said: "Refuweegee are a Glasgow-based and community-run charity.

"They help people who have been forced to flee their homes arrive in Scotland and provide welcome packs and essential items such as clothes and toiletries to help people feel more at home.

"I hope my fundraising helps raise an awareness of the great work the charity does to help refugees."

Glasgow Times:

The session, which will begin at 8am on April 1, will be available via live stream on the platform, Mixcloud, and Davey already has a game plan for his set.

He said: "I've been loosely planning my set so that I'm not spending too much time looking for records or files to play.

"I've got nearly 400 songs so far, my set will be the ultimate journey starting chilled with some jazz, moving through funk, hip hop and reggae before picking up with some disco and dance music.

"Moving into the night I'll be playing more techno, electro, drum and bass and hardcore sounds.

"I'm not planning the last few hours of my set; I'm just going to see where the mood takes me at that moment."

Glasgow Times:

With yoga and stretches already done, and a light eating plan for the day sorted, Davey is more than ready for the set.

He said: "I'm feeling excited and looking forward to the challenge.

"I reckon I'll be achy but I'm feeling pretty excited. I've been doing plenty of stretching and yoga in preparation.

"I've got some long tunes ready for toilet breaks too. I cannot wait."

Glasgow Times:

Davey will be joined by his partner and cat, who will be offering company and support throughout the 'small party' at his 'rave cave'.
