A LOUT hurled abuse at staff and police after being refused service at a bar.
Austin Gillespie, 32, lashed out at them in Rutherglen, South Lanarkshire, on November 25 2022.
Gillespie initially pushed member of staff Stela Kutsarova at the Picture House bar which led to him being arrested.
He then continued his behaviour towards police - spitting and making racist, homophobic and sectarian remarks.
Gillespie pleaded guilty today at Glasgow Sheriff Court to behaving in a threatening or abusive manner.
He also admitted assaulting Miss Kutsarova and two police officers.
The court heard that Gillespie and others were refused service by staff at the Picture House due to their state of intoxication.
An enraged Gillespie hurled threats at Miss Kutsarova stating: “You’re a cow, do your f***ing job.”
Other customers attempted to intervene to calm the situation but Gillespie said he would “smash” them.
Police attended and found Gillespie at the bar and he pushed Miss Kutsarova on the body.
While he was in a cell van, Gillespie spat at PC Joshua Gorman with it landing on his arm.
Gillespie was put in a prison cell where he shouted, swore and head butted the wall.
He also hurled homophobic slurs and called one of the officers a “ginger p****.”
Gillespie was then put under high observation.
Prosecutor Jennifer Gilmour said: “He called officers there ‘f*****s, c***s, p**i b******s and fenians.”
Gillespie was restrained to the ground due to his behaviour.
He made efforts to bite PC Christina McGee on the ankle but did not pierce skin as he had bitten her boot.
Gillespie continued to spit in the cell while he had a spit hood on.
Caitlin Clark, defending, told the court: “He is realistic in terms of the outcome.”
Sentence was deferred pending background reports until next month by Sheriff Gerard Considine who continued Gillespie’s remand in custody meantime.
