UPDATE: The Subway is now running normally on both circles.

A power failure on the Glasgow Subway system has disrupted early morning commutes.

The fault on Thursday morning first prevented Subway staff from getting to work, forcing the closure of all stations.

A shuttle service that was set up between Shields Road and St Enoch was also stopped as the transport firm was forced to "shut down and restart the system".

A spokesperson for the Glasgow Subway advised that an update would follow when the restart was complete.

It is not clear when the Subway will be running again.

The spokesperson said: "The Subway is currently suspended due to a power failure in the system."

"We are working to get this fixed and get services running as soon as we can."
