Emergency services have locked down an area of Petershill Road in North Glasgow today.

Their cordon was put in place after a report of a suspect device.

Police and emergency services were called to the road in the Springburn area of the city after they received a report of a suspect device.

Police arrived this morning (Monday, April 17) at around 10.05am and have remained at the scene.

The specialist bomb squad known officially as the EOD Explosive Ordnance Disposal Unit remain at the scene.

Have Petershill Road residents been evacuated from their homes?

Police told The Glasgow Times: "As a precaution, a number of flats have been evacuated and some road closures have been implemented.  People are advised at this time to heed local diversions or seek alternative routes.”

The Glasgow Times understands a 50-year-old man has been arrested.
