Anticipation is building with less than two days to go until the opening of Beat 6’s new Bearsden location with the team raring to get back to raising funds for a worthy cause.

The social enterprise, which was founded by Nico Simeone of Six by Nico fame, first set up shop in Glasgow’s East End in 2021 and went on to receive rave reviews for its relaxed take on fine dining with all proceeds to the Beatson Cancer Charity.

When the original restaurant closed at the end of last year, a promise was made to return to a new home which was later revealed to be a cosy corner spot at 149 Milngavie Road.

Glasgow Times:

Ahead of Friday’s official opening, we took a trip to the eatery for a sneak peek and caught up with General Manager Suzana Koprivc who told us: “We had an amazing time at Beat 6 in Dennistoun.

“It was such an incredible journey for us all.

“Today we have all of the original team here so it’s bringing back a lot of lovely memories.

“Now we are all buzzing for this one to open as soon as possible.”

Glasgow Times:

That sense of excitement was palpable this afternoon as a select few, including Beatson Cancer Charity representatives and local competition winners, made their way to the restaurant for an exclusive preview event.

Cocktails were poured, dishes lined the pass and guests were seated in a stylish but relaxed space that reflects a slight detour from the original Beat 6 menu concept with diners now offered a four-course tasting menu which will rotate monthly according to seasonality and showcase carefully selected key ingredients.

Glasgow Times:

Perhaps the most important aspect of the new location is an upstairs dining area which can be used for private events and will allow the restaurant to facilitate guests through their continued partnership with the Beatson.

Glad to see some regulars already returning Suzana continued: “I won’t lie, there were quite a few times in Dennistoun where we would get teary-eyed as the guests shared their stories and told us how they or someone close to them had been affected by cancer.

“When they came to us, we made sure that for those hours they could relax and enjoy themselves.

“It’s a very unique place to work and myself and the team feel so proud and honoured to be a part of it.”

Glasgow Times:

Any future visitors to Beat 6 will automatically play a part in Beat 6’s charitable mission thanks to a ‘dine to donate’ approach which will see all proceeds from their meals logged in a live online tracker.

Even before the official opening of the Bearsden location, a grand total sits at £351,765 which has provided vital support for a charity which holds an important part in the hearts of many across Glasgow and beyond.

Glasgow Times:

Martin Cawley, CEO of the Beatson Cancer Charity, said: “We are absolutely delighted Beat 6 is opening to the public this week.

“We are so grateful to Nico Simeone and his fantastic team who have already raised an outstanding amount for our charity following the success of the Beat 6 restaurant in the east end of Glasgow.

“The money raised through Beat 6 allows us to support so many cancer patients and their families across the west of Scotland.

“The response during the restaurant’s first year of being open was exceptional and we are looking forward to seeing how the Bearsden community supports the restaurant when it opens.”
