A MUCH-LOVED butcher shop in Govan will offer customers home delivery as crucial repairs are undertaken at its unit.

Sandy Smith Family Butchers on Drumoyne Road has been forced to close for around 12 weeks 'due to circumstances totally outwith our control'.

While essential structural work begins on May 20, the owners will be offering their 'loyal customers' the same products delivered to their doors.

The traditional butchers has been serving the community for more than 25 years and took to Facebook to assure customers it would not be closing down.

Owners Sandy, Ross and James wrote: "Unfortunately due to circumstances totally outwith our control the shop has to close for approximately 12 weeks from May 20 to allow essential structural work to be carried out by Glasgow City Properties.

"We are not closing down.

"We have managed to secure premises for the duration of the works but unfortunately they are not local.

"We will still be trading with a home delivery service and hope that all our loyal customers continue to support us as we will still be offering all the same products at the same great quality with the added bonus of getting them delivered direct to your door."

They added: "We have served the people of Drumoyne and surrounding areas for 25 years and we sincerely hope all you wonderful people continue to support us to keep Sandy Smith Butchers trading for the next 12 weeks and beyond."
