A Glasgow community marked the Coronation with a special event yesterday.

Organised by Barmulloch Community Development Company (BCDC), local families gathered at a green space just off Quarrywood Avenue, to mark the occasion.

Children enjoyed rides, an inflatable castle, arts and crafts sessions and more.

Dozens enjoyed the free event, which started out in the sun but was later dampened by some rain.

BCDC volunteer Emma Mclaughlin said: "We are a community group with a few community centres around the area.

"This today is for the King's Coronation. It is so that everyone can come together.

"It is going really well. We have a couple of different events, including the fair and a King's Tea.

"We have done a few of these over the years and it's mainly for the kids to get together."

Around the corner, led by local mums Amanda McNee, Lyndsay Fleming and Cheryl Maxwell, a special session took place, focused on children with autism.

It was designed to provide a place for them to make connections, express themselves and play.

About this week's special Coronation event, Lyndsay Fleming said: "This is for the families of children with learning difficulties and ASN and it is something that they normally wouldn't be able to take part in.

"Maybe they would have to wait in queues, things could get overwhelming, they could experience sensory overload, but this is a safe space.

"But here, they can come along and be part of a community. It's good for the parents as well.

"We have tiaras and crowns they can put on, prince and princess artwork they can take part in, we have glitter tattoos and things like that.

"It's a theme for them and something that they will remember."
