A POLICE officer is accused of repeatedly removing his licence plates and stealing fuel.

Ross Reid, 32, allegedly committed the crimes at garages in Glasgow’s Baillieston and Uddingston.

The offences are said to have been committed on three occasions between July and October 2022.

Court papers state that Reid stole a quantity of diesel at Morrisons.

A separate charge claims that in advance of committing the crime, he removed the front and back plates from his Jaguar XE.

Allegations state this was done with the intention that CCTV covering the premises would not record the registration number.

It is claimed Reid did this to avoid detection, arrest and prosecution for the theft.

The charge says Reid carried out the crime with intent to defeat the ends of justice and attempting to defeat the ends of justice.

Reid faces identical charges in terms of removing plates then stealing diesel.

This includes from the same Morrisons and a BP fuel garage.

The constable denies the six charges at Glasgow Sheriff Court.

A trial will take place in August with a hearing taking place two weeks before.
