Indie punk rockers Dream Wife are bringing their feminism and aggressive energy to the city that they say ‘dances like nobody is watching’.

The London-based three-piece which consists of Rakel Mjöll (lead vocals), Alice Go (guitar, vocals), and Bella Podpadec (bass, vocals) are set to take the TRSNMT stage on Sunday, July 9 and are bringing their mosh pits, and edgy sound with them.

The Let's Make Out stars rose to fame in 2018 with their debut self-titled album which received widespread critical acclaim.

After opening for superstars such as The Vaccines, the band have since released their second album, So When You Gonna… in 2020 which smashed the Official UK Top 20 album charts and their third album released today.

Ahead of their TRSNMT set, the group chatted with the Glasgow Times about their excitement to return to the city.

Glasgow Times:

Rakel said: “We absolutely love playing Glasgow.

“It’s one of our favourite cities, it’s just full of absolutely brilliant people.

“The last time we were in Glasgow we played Saint Luke’s and that was really great.

“I’d say in Glasgow, the crowd screams and dances like nobody’s watching. No one’s thinking about being cool, everyone is just in their own element.”

Alice added: “We have so much fun when we play in Glasgow and there’s such a warm reception and excitement there somehow.

“I have quite vivid memories of when we played King Tuts and that room was just electric. The crowd was just exploding out at us.

“It’s always a good time in Glasgow. We can’t wait to come back.”

Glasgow Times:

Though this will be the group’s first time playing TRNSMT, fans and attendees alike are in for a roaring time.

Alice said: “Those coming to the show are in for mosh pits and a ruckus rock show.”

However, a Dream Wife mosh pit is not your usual sweaty, chuck-your-body-about gathering, instead, they adhere to a ‘bad b**** only policy’.

The idea behind the policy is to create a safe space where mutual respect, dancing and freedom all meet in front of the stage for anyone and everyone who identifies as a bad b****.

So, if you are part of the wife fanbase, get your shoes on and get ready for a polite throwing about.

Glasgow Times:

The band’s TRNSMT appearance will come after the release of their new record Social Lubrication due out today (June 9) and was self-produced by Alice.

The production mastermind said: “The big emphasis with this record is that it is in some way capturing our live sound and energy.

“It’s an exciting new chapter and that’s an honour and a privilege.

“This is a true manifestation of Dream Wife on record, and we are just really excited to share that with everyone.”

Rakel added: “We just wanted to make this an album that we can record and take on the road and it will sound the same, and that to us is so exciting.

“It’s not perfect either, perfection is boring.”

The band will be heading out on the road this October, where they will be playing London, Leeds and Manchester as part of their headline tour.
