FILMING has started for the seventh series of Two Doors Down.

We previously reported after a record number of viewers turned in to last year's Christmas special, the ever-popular sitcom starring Alex Norton and Elaine C Smith was renewed for another series consisting of six 30-minute episodes. 

Now, filming has begun on the new season which is expected to air later this year.

The show's producer Jacqueline Sinclair announced the news with a picture of stars Elaine C Smith, Arabella Weir and Alex Norton on Twitter.

She wrote: "Series 7 shoot has begun."

The show's co-creator Simon Carlyle quote tweeted the post, writing: ."..and we're BACK!

"Three of our cast on set today....let's see who else joins us along the way..."

Fans of the show shared their delight at the news.

One person wrote: "Great news. The only comedy I look forward to."

Another said: "Can't wait @MissSinco best news ever."

A third person added: "Tweet of the day."

When Two Doors Down returns, it will have a new home as it moves to BBC One.
