A school near Glasgow has been highlighted for its culture of 'confident, happy children' after an inspection.

Inspectors from Education Scotland visited Drumpark Primary School in Coatbridge in April to observe staff and children and speak to parents and carers.

The school was found to have a very positive culture with highly motivated pupils who are 'kind, happy and proud' of both their achievements and those of the school as a whole.

Children have 'caring' relationships with teachers and with each other, and the school is helping to elevate their confidence by having them take part in pupil action groups, which also develop their leadership skills.

Senior leaders and staff were also praised for providing an inclusive environment centred around the children’s rights and well-being.

The children feel safe and always feel that they can ask for help when they need it.

Drumpark's head teacher Gillian Pollock said: “We are delighted with our recent inspection report, following our Education Scotland visit.

"It highlights the strengths of the school and recognises the hard work and commitment across the school to continued improvement in what has been a period of significant change within Drumpark.

“The report highlights the school’s strong commitment to wellbeing through our school values and children's rights.

"I would like to thank the inspection team for their valuable professional dialogue, focusing our minds on the continuous improvement of the school.”

Councillor Angela Campbell, convener of the Education, Children and Families Committee, said: “Congratulations to everyone at Drumpark Primary School on such a positive inspection report.

“This reflects the hard work and dedication of all the staff in creating a warm and caring environment for the children where they enjoy learning and develop their confidence and skills.”
