A safety issue on the train tracks near Pollokshaws West station has halted a number of Scotrail services this morning.

Update: Services can now run as scheduled although disruption remains ongoing.

All services to and from East Kilbride have been cancelled as Network Rail investigates reports of a track fault.

Staff are currently on site to probe the cause of the fault and carry out a safety inspection.

A spokesperson for Network Rail said: "We're investigating reports of a track fault near Pollokshaws West.

"We've had to close the line in both directions whilst we look into this further. For safety reasons services will be unable to run through until the rail has been inspected."

A spokesperson for Scotrail added: "Due to a safety inspection of the track at Pollokshaws West all lines are closed through this station.

"Network Rail staff are on site and will provide an update shortly. Services to/from East Kilbride will be cancelled at this time."

More on this as we have it.
