A FABULOUS array of events is set to ring in Pride weekend for the first time ever.

South Lanarkshire will host its own inaugural Pride celebration on July 28 and 29 in Hamilton town centre with the event thought to be the first of its kind in the town.

From drag shows and entertainers to colourful street parties, the events, many of which are free to attend, are sure to brighten up the Hamilton skies.

Malcolm Thomas-Harley, event organiser, said: "Pride is a celebration but also an important movement.

"Visibility, voice and a platform for our community are key goals of this first Pride in the region.

"A march isn’t part of this first year’s plans, instead we’ve designed the event to include a large area to fill in the centre of Hamilton. Because we have this space, we’re going to need everyone’s support by coming along and helping us fill the streets with love joy and Pride on July 29.

"Bring your pride flags and banners and get set for a great day in support of Pride. We would like to thank EventScotland and The National Lottery community fund for their support."
