An arrest has been made. Update HERE

Cops have revealed that they are following a positive line of enquiry after an attack in a busy town centre. 

We previously reported that police had taped off an area of Hamilton near the Vue cinema and Asda on Sunday afternoon. 

Officers were investigating an assault that occurred at around 4pm.

Glasgow Times:

The status of the victim is not known, and the Scottish Ambulance Service told the Glasgow Times that they had not been called to the incident. 

Police are continuing to investigate what happened and are urging anyone who may have witnessed the incident to get in touch.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Around 3.50pm on Sunday, July 16, 2023, we were called to a report of an assault in the Palace Grounds Road area of Hamilton.

"Officers are following a positive line of enquiry and anyone with information can call 101, quoting reference 2299 of July 16.”
