Plans to develop a performance studio in Cambuslang have been submitted to the council

The Performance Academy has submitted an application to convert office spaces at 23 Main Street into a fully-equipped studio. 

If approved, the new space will include a recording studio, a music studio, a drama and dance studio, a singing area, a separate dance studio, a room for events with a raised stage, a breakout area and library, a tots’ room and a private tuition area. 

The Performance Academy won Scotland’s acting academy of the year in 2022 and musical theatre school of the year in 2023/2024. 

It is an established acting and performing arts school with academies in East Renfrewshire, Glasgow, South Lanarkshire and West Lothian. 

It was founded in 2008 with aims to deliver a wide range of tailored classes developed to build confidence, inspire creativity, provide performance opportunities and advanced education in the arts. 

The academy provides training for a variety of ages, ranging from six months to 21 years of age. 

The application was received by the council on Thursday, June 29 and validated on Wednesday, July 5.

Neighbourhood consultation and standard consultation began on Monday, July 10 and the deadline to determine the application is Monday, September 4.
