Fans at a popular Rangers pub in Glasgow joined in on a special tribute to Newcastle as the clubs faced each other in a friendly.

Punters at Oswald's Bar decided to welcome Newcastle fans who were visiting the city for the friendly at Ibrox on Tuesday by paying homage to Paul Gascoigne.

In a video shared by the pub, the locals donned 'Gazza' masks in order to welcome their visitors 'with a friendly face'.

Gascoigne played for the Geordie side's youth team before starting his senior career there in the mid-1980s, and he later went on to become a legend at Ibrox.

Rangers and Newcastle fans alike shared their thoughts on the gesture, with one saying: "Was great having the Geordies in town. Great bunch of people."

Another said: "Thank you so much for your hospitality had a great afternoon at Oswald’s and night at Ibrox."

A third added: "Absolute brilliant afternoon, what a great idea as well."

The game at Ibrox, which was the testimonial match for legendary Light Blues goalkeeper Allan McGregor, finished 2-1 to Newcastle.

In an emotional address to the crowd, McGregor said: "The length of time I have been here, the support is unbelievable. It's the best fans in the world."
