A suspect is to stand trial charged with trying to kill one man and seriously assaulting another.
Lee McKnight, 30, allegedly carried out the attacks in Haymarket Street and Carntynehall Road in Glasgow's Carntyne last August 5.
He is first accused of being threatening and challenging Gavin McGarvey and Paul Connor to a fight.
It is claimed he then attempted to murder Mr McGarvey.
Prosecutors allege the man was repeatedly punched and kicked, struck with a knife and also hit with a bat.
Mr Connor is said to have been assaulted to his severe injury and permanent disfigurement.
This charge claims he was also punched, kicked and smacked with a bat.
Lawyers pleaded not guilty on McKnight's behalf during a hearing at the High Court in Glasgow yesterday.
Lord Fairley fixed a trial, which is expected to begin in April 2024.
