An airline has revealed more details on a new route they are launching from Glasgow next summer.

We previously reported that Jet2 is to introduce flights from Glasgow to Verona in 2024.

The operator has since confirmed that they will run flights from May 8 until September 25, 2024.

It comes after Jet2 received high demand from customers and independent travel agents to increase flights, city breaks and holidays to Italy.

Verona is known for its pretty piazzas, medieval architecture and being the romantic setting of Romeo and Juliet.

Meanwhile, the route opens up the opportunity for holidaymakers to visit nearby Lake Garda and its surroundings, from waterfront towns to lush vineyards.

Steve Heapy, CEO of Jet2holidays said: “As well as looking forward to a busy Summer 23, we are also seeing lots of customers want to book ahead for next summer from Glasgow Airport which is great news.

"In response to that, we are moving to give customers and independent travel agents even more choice thanks to the launch of flights, city breaks and holidays to Lake Garda and Verona for Summer 24.

"This expansion further strengthens a programme which is already our biggest ever, and we know that it will be very popular with customers and independent travel agents right across the region.”

Christopher Tibbett, head of airline relations and marketing at Glasgow Airport, added: “We are hugely excited to see Jet2.com and Jet2holidays add a 3rd destination in Italy next summer, alongside routes to Rome and Naples.

"Whether exploring lakes and mountains or gorging on world-class food and culture in Verona itself, the route will be a popular addition for holidaymakers in Scotland.”

The new route is on top of Glasgow Airport’s Jet2 summer 24 programme that was recently expanded to five destinations, including Ibiza, Izmir, Reus, Bodrum and Rhodes.
