A much-loved Glasgow beauty salon has closed after nine years of business.

The Beauty Store is shutting after the owner Lorna, from Scotstoun, admitted to struggling with 'financial burdens' which meant the salon "can simply no longer trade".

They cited contributing factors such as Covid, the cost-of-living crisis, and the city centre's Low Emission Zone 'restrictions'.

A statement shared on the salon's Facebook page read: "It is with much heartfelt sadness that I have to announce the closure of The Beauty Store.

"I have tried so hard to fight against the financial burden of the new 'normal world' we live in but, it has forced my hand, for now, to ultimately make the decision and confirm that The Beauty Store has sadly ceased trading with immediate effect."

Clients and friends shared their good wishes, with one writing: "I’m so sorry to hear this news, thinking of you and wish you all the best."

Another said: "I’m so very sorry to be reading this. I am absolutely gutted for you and all the staff at the Beauty Store. I’ve been a client for years and years."

A third added: "I’m so sorry to hear this wishing you all the best, [The] Beauty Store was one of the best salons in Glasgow with such passionate people."

The Beauty Store is the second salon we have reported to have closed in recent weeks due to similar issues.

In June, we reported that Renfield's Hair and Beauty were closing after the owners struggled with the aftermath of Covid as well as price increases from their supply chain.
