A man will need surgery after he was attacked by a group of thugs on a Glasgow train.
The incident unfolded on a ScotRail service from Glasgow Central to Largs on Saturday night.
The victim was approached by three men at some point between 11.29pm and 11.55pm.
He was left with injuries to his face and ankle after the incident.
Transport cops are now looking for the assailants, who left the train at Kilwinning.
One is described as white, in his late twenties and around six-foot tall.
He was of medium build, with ginger hair and a beard, and was wearing a dark t-shirt.
The second is also white, believed to be in his mid-twenties, and of a medium build.
He had dark brown short hair and was wearing a dark t-shirt.
The third is also white and around five feet ten inches tall.
He was of medium build, with short dark hair, and wearing a red t-shirt or polo.
Anyone who may have witnessed the incident is urged to contact British Transport Police by texting 61016, quoting reference 277 of August 13.
