A drunken lout hurled abuse in a sunbed shop as he was unable to open his cubicle.

Peter Ross, 45, made the remarks to Francis Ann Ferguson at Hot Salon in Glasgow city centre on January 28.

Glasgow Sheriff Court heard Ross entered the shop while under the influence of alcohol.

He entered one of the tanning rooms and a noise was heard which concerned Miss Ferguson.

She believed that Ross may have fallen down.

Prosecutor Eilidh MacDonald said: "She asked him if he was alright through the door.

"Ross shouted 'You are taking the p***, I will take the p*** out of you'.

"He was asked to leave to which he started shouting and swearing at her.

"He shouted 'Phone the f***ing police, get the f***ing police down'."

Police attended and arrested Ross.

He pleaded guilty to behaving in a threatening or abusive manner.

Declan O'Keefe, defending, told the court that his client has trouble with alcohol.

The lawyer added: "He is not a regular user of sunbeds - he went while under the influence.

"He said there was a cubicle to go in and he was unable to unlock the cubicle for some reason - he was panicking and banging.

"He overreacted and he accepts the behaviour was embarrassing."

Sheriff Stuart Reid ordered Ross, of the city's Springburn, to pay a fine of £245.
