A driver was found to be "five times over the drink-drive limit" after police were called to an "accident".

East Renfrewshire officers attended the incident at the Avenue Shopping Centre in Newton Mearns, on Saturday, August 19.

The driver "failed a breath test and was found to be over five times the drink-drive limit of 22 microgrammes of alcohol per 100ml of breath".

Police Scotland shared the details on Twitter.

The post read: "On Saturday, August 19, officers attended an accident at the Avenue Shopping Centre, Newton Mearns.

"The driver responsible failed a breath test and was found to be over five times the drink-drive limit of 22 microgrammes of alcohol per 100ml of breath. Report to Procurator Fiscal."
