A WOMAN was left "covered in blood" after a fight broke out on a train to Glasgow.

The rammy erupted among passengers on a service from Edinburgh Waverley to Glasgow on Saturday evening.

A video shared on TikTok appears to show police officers entering the train to bring some people on to the platform at Haymarket.

An eyewitness claims that a woman was removed from the train and she appeared to be injured and crying.

They told Edinburgh Live: "I had got the earlier train back to Glasgow thinking it’d be quieter but it was rammed, there were so many people squeezed into the aisles and at the doors.

"When we got to Haymarket, more people tried to get on and it was very tense as people were screaming and shouting 'no more'.

"A woman started shouting and there was lots of tussling and shouting.

"The police arrived and a girl was taken off covered in blood and crying, and the fight continued on the platform with the police trying to calm it down.

"It was the perfect storm with drunk people on a busy train clearly at capacity. There shouldn’t have been that many people allowed on, it was dangerous."

British Transport Police confirmed that it had been called to the incident and taken details from two male passengers.

It is looking for any witnesses to the fight to get in touch.

A spokesperson said: "Officers were called to Edinburgh Haymarket station at 9:43pm on August 26 following reports of a fight between two men.

"Both men were spoken to and their details taken to allow officers to conduct further enquiries and establish the circumstances of what happened.

"Any witnesses who haven’t already spoken to police can contact BTP by texting 61016 quoting reference 560 of 26/08."
