A Glasgow charity will be able to organise winter community meal events, thanks to a generous donation.

The Courtyard Pantry Enterprise, in Possilpark, North Glasgow, received £5,000 just after its launch in March last year and £10,000 over the next few months to fund the autumn and winter programme.

The project will consist of four community meal events every month between November and March, each catering for 30 people and covering all dietary and cultural requirements, at the Pantry Hub in Wester Common and Toshie’s, their community café in Maryhill.

Dale Todd, coordinator of The Courtyard Pantry Enterprise, said: “We are looking forward to launching the Community Meal project in the coming months, to help reduce social isolation and to provide a bit of comfort to folk in the community.

“I think the work that you are doing to support organisations in the area is fantastic.

“In terms of what this means to us as an organisation, it is a bit of a game-changer.

“We have had aspirations to relaunch the Courtyard Pantry Cafe with a series of free community meals, and we had hoped to be able to do this during winter and spring as that's when folk would need support the most.

“The funding from Allied Vehicles Charitable Trust allows us to do this.

“The donation also provides a degree of financial security for the charity as we now have plenty of work to get on with and allows us to continue to be able to provide meaningful job opportunities for people in the community.”
