A Glasgow home care company has been awarded a five-star rating.

Home Instead Glasgow South has been presented with the award by the Care Inspectorate for providing a high standard of care for older people.

The firm delivers the service to people in their own homes, giving them the opportunity to stay where they want.

One major aspect highlighted in the report was the way care professionals treat clients with the "utmost dignity and respect".

Home Instead’s approach to caring for clients for the long term was also credited, noting that this allows for early intervention in any health problems or crises.

Care professionals can recognise when a client’s health changes and whether anything needs addressing.

The staff are also companions to clients, not simply providing care but also giving them valuable company. The

One client was quoted as saying: "I look forward to the carer coming, it is someone else to talk to and we have a laugh, it cheers me up."

The Care Inspectorate also recognised Home Instead’s positive and supportive working culture, including giving staff career development opportunities.

Suhail Rehman, owner of Home Instead Glasgow South, said: “I’m so proud of our fantastic team who have helped us achieve a 5-star rating.

"Every day we make it possible for older people in the area to live healthily and happily at home, and to know that we are doing it to the Care Inspectorate’s high standards is wonderful.

“There are so many benefits of staying at home in your old age – it’s a place of familiarity and for many of us it’s where our fondest memories lie.

"I’m pleased to see more and more families view it as an option for their older loved ones.”
