A RuPaul's Drag Race UK star has revealed their Scottish roots ahead of their 'homecoming' show in Glasgow.

Bimini Bon-Boulash, drag queen and singer, will be bringing 'mixed-up song mashes' and a 'few tricks' up their sleeve as they perform on RuPaul’s Drag Race: Werq The World UK tour on October 15.

Appearing alongside drag stars, Aquarius and Kim Chi at the OVO Hydro, Bimini is excited to hear some Glasgow accents and return to the city.

They said: "I'm so excited to be back in Glasgow.

"My mum's side of the family is from Greenock, so it will be somewhat like a homecoming.

"I love the Glasgow accent too, I love Scottish accents but Glasgow is my favourite.

"The last time I was in the city was when I performed with MUNA (American pop band known for hits Silk Chiffon and Anything But Me).

"That was just insane, they are the best.

"When we were in Glasgow for the show, my band and I decided to get matching tattoos on the tour bus which was fun.

"Glasgow is great, everyone is always up for a good time and I'm ready to just have a ball."

Glasgow Times:

Bimini, who was the runner-up on the second series of RuPaul's Drag Race UK, is the only UK artist on the Werq The World Tour 2023.

Speaking on the 'honour', they said: "I have a lot of weight on my shoulders as the only UK artist.

"I hadn't thought about that until recently, but it’s a real honour and I feel really happy.

"I think there's a lot of misconceptions about my relationship with drag, that I've frayed away from it, so getting to do this tour will show everyone that there's no bad energy there.

"I put my EP (When the Party Ends) out in the summer, and I've been doing a lot of festivals with my band.

"This show will be my first set without my band which I'm actually very excited about as I'll get to throw in a bit more poppy elements."

Music aside, Bimini has also been working hard on their 'look' for the show.

They added: "I've been thinking hard about the fashion, my look and production.

"I'm going full-on pop-girly mode.

"Think English historical with a modern twist."

Glasgow Times:

Bimini first got into drag in 2012 after moving to London and began performing, particularly singing, as young as five.

One of their earliest memories consists of a campsite and Celine Dion songs.

After falling away from drag and performance due to 'peer pressure that dancing and singing isn't cool', their entry into Drag Race changed everything.

They said: "When I went on to Drag Race, I was able to write and record music, go into the studio, all these opportunities which I didn't previously have access to.

"There's no point in denying yourself opportunities if they are there. You should take them and grow and evolve."

And with new music on the way, it seems Bimini's growth and evolution in that industry is far from done.

They teased: "I'm slow with creating my music as I want to make sure I'm putting quality into it.

"I'm ready to make an album. I have so many songs under my belt and I've been working with some amazing producers.

"I have a new song coming out next Friday (September 29) called Moonlight. It's a disco house banger."
