Georgina Reid, Scottish Water’s corporate affairs regional manager in the west said: “We need to reroute defective drainage from the existing footpath to the main sewer running beneath the road.
“Properties have been experiencing internal sewer flooding as a result of the problem which is both damaging and distressing for all affected.
“This is a complex repair and has taken considerable planning and preparation not least because of the impact a road closure could have on the surrounding area.”
A diversion has been agreed with Glasgow City Council along Grange Road and Langside Road however pavements on Battlefield Road will remain open for pedestrians and to access local businesses.
