A hoax call sparked a huge emergency response to flats in Glasgow.

Multiple 999 services raced to the block of flats at Kingsway Court in the city's Knightswood on Sunday night.

Images shared on social media show the response teams at the scene, with claims that "four fire engines, an ambulance, a major response van and police vehicles" all attended.

Reports also claim that the call was a false alarm, with one local describing the move as "absolutely disgusting".

Another said the act was "unbelievable".

Officers confirmed that they had been called to the area following a report of a fire but there was no trace of any incident when they arrived.

It is being treated as a false call.

A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: "We were alerted at 9.42pm on Sunday, 8 October, to reports of a fire on Kingsway Court, Glasgow.

“Operations Control mobilised six appliances to the area where firefighters examined a multi-storey flat and established no sign of smoke or fire.

“Crews left the scene after ensuring the area was made safe.”

It comes after we reported that a 999 response was called to the flats at Kingsway Court last year due to a loud movie.

Four police vehicles were sent following reports from a neighbour about "screaming and shouting".

But when officers attended the flat, the people inside were found to be watching a movie on a loud TV.
