An appeal against North Lanarkshire Council’s decision to refuse planning permission for a housing development in Gartcosh has resulted in the decision being upheld.
Bellway Homes and Deuchny Properties had applied for permission to build 75 homes on land to the east of Lochend Road, but this application was rejected by councillors earlier this year because it would encroach on a designated “no build area”.
The council’s planning commitee rejected the application on February 2, in line with recommendations made by officers.
The developers then sought to overturn the council decision but their appeal to the Scottish Government has been dismissed.
This decision was formally noted by the council’s planning committee.
