A number of businesses were evacuated on Tuesday morning.

Crowds gathered on Bath Street and Sauchiehall Street as people vacated Greggs, Primark, Pure Gym, and other businesses amid the incident.

Fire crews were called to the scene around 9.45am while an alarm blared from within the building.

Wardens were stood guard at the entrance to the Q-Park Sauchiehall Street, preventing vehicles from entering.

Emergency crews were seen entering through the shopfront of Vaping Oasis and left a short time later.

A spokesperson for Scottish Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) later confirmed that it was a false alarm.

We reported in June that the SFRS revealed that they responded to more than 30,000 incidents involving unwanted fire alarm signals.

This is the equivalent of 80 unwanted false alarms from commercial businesses and workplace premises every day for a 12-month period.
