A GLASGOW service has been impacted this morning after a train "struck a tree".

The 5.17am train from Oban to Glasgow Queen Street was affected after striking a tree in the Taynuilt area.

ScotRail put the information on Twitter/X this morning, where it stated that colleagues were en route to assist in clearing the tree from the tracks.

It wrote: "We've been advised that our 05.17 Oban to Glasgow Queen St service has struck a tree in the Taynuilt area and requires assistance to clear the tree from the track.

"Network Rail colleagues are on their way to assist. We’ll keep you updated."

The line has since been cleared of the debris.

Phil Campbell, ScotRail customer operations director, said: "In addition to the red and amber warnings in the east and north of the country, Storm Babet has brought yellow weather warnings for high winds across most of Scotland, which does bring the risk of trees and other objects falling on the railway infrastructure.

"We're sorry to customers who experienced disruption to their journey as a result of this incident. Teams worked as quickly as possible to remove the tree and clear debris from the track to allow services to return to normal.

"We'd encourage customers who plan to travel today to check their journey before setting off, and keep an eye on our website, mobile app or social media channels for live updates.

"Customers should avoid travel in areas covered by the Met Office red and amber warnings.”
