Police are investigating after the unexplained death of a man in a Glasgow cemetery.

Officers were called to Cardonald Cemetery in the city's South-West this morning, just before noon.

Roads in the graveyard were guarded by the force and a forensic tent was also erected.

The death was described by Police Scotland as "sudden" and "unexplained" but they say it does not appear to be suspicious.

Following the discovery, the area was closed to locals.

In pictures, several officers can be seen, guarding a white tend and blue police tape.

A Glasgow City Council spokesperson said: "We are aware the police are attending to an incident in Cardonald Cemetery. The cemetery is currently closed to the public.

"As this is a police matter, it would be inappropriate to comment further at this time.”

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 11.40am on Wednesday, November 8, 2023, we were called to a report of the sudden death of a man on Mosspark Boulevard, Glasgow.

“The death is being treated as unexplained however there do not appear to be any suspicious circumstances.

“A report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal."
