A man was attacked and robbed after masked thugs stormed his home.

The 29-year-old was inside his house on Macrious Way when four men clad in dark clothes and face coverings gained entry around 5.45pm on Friday, November 10.

The gang assaulted the man before making off with an undisclosed sum of money and jewellery from the Motherwell property.

Fortunately, the man did not require any medical treatment.

A probe has been launched into the terrifying ordeal with detectives carrying out door-to-door enquiries after the "despicable" attack.

Investigators have promised to track down the brutes responsible and are urging any witnesses to come forward.

Detective Sergeant John Logan of Airdrie CID said: "For those responsible to enter the victim’s home and subject him to this terrifying ordeal is absolutely despicable. It is crucial that we trace them.

“Officers are carrying out door-to-door enquiries, reviewing CCTV and we will continue our investigations until we track them down.

“I would urge anyone who was in the local area on Friday evening to come forward if they think they may have seen persons matching the above descriptions or anything else suspicious.

“Likewise, I would be keen to hear about any vehicles which may have been seen entering or leaving the surrounding streets on Friday evening and any dashcam footage available from these vehicles.

"It might not have seemed important at the time, but the information could prove significant to our investigation.”
