Drivers have been warned to expect major diversions through the city centre as M8 closures are announced.

The M8 motorway will see the closure of the eastbound M8 carriageway at junction 16 from Monday 4th December until Wednesday 13th December.

We previously reported that this week would see the M8 motorway close overnight between Junctions 18 and 16 and the eastbound on slip roads at Junction 19 and Junction 18 as phase three of essential works is set to be complete.

Now, as work in phase three continues, traffic will be diverted through the city centre for 10 days.

Traffic will exit at junction 18 (Charing Cross) onto St Georges Road and head for Garscube Road.

Traffic will then continue to Dobbie’s Loan before being diverted onto Kyle Street, followed on to Baird Street and then onto Castle Street.

Drivers will then rejoin the M8 eastbound via junction 15 eastbound, where the diversion will end.

Glasgow Times:

M8 works are set to run until Thursday, December 21, where the essential repairs will be taking place on the M8 Eastbound between junctions 25 and 12.

According to Amey,  on behalf of Transport Scotland, the scheme will look to benefit around 74,000 vehicles using this route each day.

Vehicles entering the LEZ as part of the diversion must follow the diversion signage at all times.
