A new riverside development providing almost 500 flats has been completed, with the first residents set to move in within weeks.

Build-to-rent developer and operator PLATFORM_ has said it is delivering a “ready-made neighbourhood that prioritises resident experience and wellbeing”.

Set across four blocks and rising to 20 storeys, the 498 homes are made up of a mix of studio, one, two and three-bedroom apartments.

Constructed by GRAHAM and funded through the operator’s joint venture with Northwood Investors LLC, the development also includes a gym, two roof terraces, a private dining room, cinema room and co-working facilities, which are included in the monthly rental rates.

Rents for the Glasgow properties aren’t currently listed online, but the firm’s Cardiff and Sheffield homes start from £1,065 and £970 per month respectively.

The developers have said there has been significant interest in the new flats, which they believe will help the council with its aim to double the city centre population to 40,000 by 2035, and aid wider regeneration efforts along the Broomielaw.

Glasgow Times:

Jean-Marc Vandevivere, CEO at PLATFORM_, said he is excited to see the development, his company’s first in Scotland, become “a memorable part of Glasgow’s skyline”.

He added: “Importantly, we’re helping to accelerate the urban regeneration of this area that is quickly attracting significant investment as collectively we recognise the wealth of opportunities this part of the city possesses.”

The development, which uses air-source heat pumps and rooftop photovoltaics, also has two commercial units on the ground floor, electric vehicle charging points and bike storage.

Gary Holmes, regional managing director for GRAHAM’s building division, said: “Providing high-quality apartments with a full range of lifestyle and amenity facilities which today’s rental market expects, this iconic development will create a thriving community along the River Clyde and help support regeneration efforts in a historic part of the city.”

James Seago, vice president at Northwood Investors, said: “We’re delighted to complete our third development in partnership with PLATFORM_ following the completion of new residential neighbourhoods in Cardiff and Sheffield within the last 12 months.”
