A new community health clinic has opened in North Lanarkshire.

The facility, part of the Chryston Community Hub, has been designed to replace the older, smaller Muirhead Clinic.

It features 17 clinical rooms and provides a variety of community services ranging from midwifery and health visitors to breastfeeding support and treatment rooms.

More than 27,000 local people will use the new service.

Debbie Horn, from Moodiesburn, was the first patient seen at the clinic. She was impressed by the new building and said: “It’s lovely. It’s airy and nice and bright; it doesn’t feel like a clinic at all.

“It looks a lot more modern than Muirhead Clinic and all the light gives it a great first impression. It’s also really nice to have all the services in one place and it has far more parking spaces."

Professor Jann Gardner, chief executive of NHS Lanarkshire, said: “This entire Chryston Community Hub development is an outstanding local facility.

“People in and around Chryston now have access to a wonderful modern health clinic that delivers key services in the heart of their community.

“The purpose of this new facility has always been to enable fundamental positive change, not simply the replacement of the previous Muirhead Clinic building and services.

“This state-of-the-art clinic will provide an opportunity to further tackle health inequalities by improving the delivery of services – shaping them around the needs of patients.”
