A MAN has been rescued by 999 crews after falling into a tunnel near a busy railway station in Glasgow.

It comes after we reported that emergency service teams raced to Cleveden Road in the city's West End on Wednesday, January 10, at around 7.40pm.

Now, the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service has confirmed they were called to a report of a person who had fallen near a disused railway tunnel in the area.

Three fire vehicles and a rope rescue team were sent to the scene, where a man was then saved by the crews.

His condition is currently unknown.

During the incident, a large presence of 999 crews was spotted in the area.

Several ambulances, fire, and police crews were seen next to Kelvindale train station. 

A spokesperson for the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service said: "We were alerted at 7.40pm on Wednesday, January 10, to reports of a person who had fallen near a disused railway tunnel at Cleveden Road, Glasgow.

"Operations control mobilised two fire appliances, one specialist height appliance and a rope rescue team to the scene.

"Firefighters rescued one person using rope rescue equipment before passing them into the car of the Scottish Ambulance Service."

The Scottish Ambulance Service has been contacted for comment.
