A man has been taken to hospital after a fire in Govan while his neighbours have been evacuated. 

He was taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital. His condition is uknown. 

Police, fire and ambulance attended the 999 callout at Napier Drive at around 3pm today. 

Police confirmed that neighbouring properties were evacuated as a result of the blaze.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Around 3pm on Friday, 12 January, 2024, we were called to a report of a fire at a property in Napier Drive, Glasgow.

"Emergency services are at the scene and a man has been taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital for treatment.

A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: "We were alerted at 2.49pm on Friday, January 12 to reports of a dwelling fire at Napier Drive, Glasgow.

"Operations Control initially mobilised three appliances and specialist resources to the scene and on arrival firefighters requested further assistance.

"Six appliances and specialist resources in total worked to extinguish a fire affecting a property on the first floor of a four-storey tenement building.

"Four casualties were passed into the care of the Scottish Ambulance Service and crews remain on the scene to dampen down any remaining hotspots". 

"Neighbouring properties have been evacuated."
