A huge police presence descended on a petrol station amid an incident on Thursday night.

Responding to reports of concern for a person, officers raced to the scene at Tesco Esso Express on Paisley Road West.

A 17-year-old boy was found injured and taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital for treatment.

He was later arrested and charged in connection with the alleged incident and is due in court today.

An eyewitness told the Glasgow Times that they had gone to the petrol station around the time of the incident and it was "surrounded by police within about 30 seconds".

Glasgow Times:

They added: "Someone ran into the shop.

"There was blood on the floor but I don't know what happened before we got there.

"It was a lot of police and a very rapid response."

A spokesperson for Police Scotland said: "Around 9.25pm on Thursday,  January 18, 2024, we were called to a report of a concern for a person in the Paisley Road West area of Glasgow.

"Officers attended and a 17-year-old male youth was taken to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital.

"He was subsequently arrested and charged in connection with the incident and is due to appear before Glasgow Sheriff Court on Friday, January 19, 2024.

"A report will be sent to the Procurator Fiscal."
