Parts of the M8 and M77 motorways near Glasgow will be closed for almost two weeks.

Essential bridge expansion joint replacements and resurfacing will take place on the M8 westbound leading to the M77 southbound, and on the M77 northbound leading to the M8 eastbound.

This will occur from Sunday, January 28 until Friday, February 9 between the hours of 8pm and 6am each night.

As a result there will be overnight road closures with signed diversions in place.

Works on the M8 westbound leading to the M77 southbound will take place between 8pm and 6am each night from Sunday, January 28 until Thursday, February 1.

Traffic will be diverted off the M8 westbound at Junction 24 to Helen Street and directed to turn right onto Edmiston Drive, right onto Broomloan Road and continue straight on to Dumbreck Road where traffic will be able to join the M77 southbound at Junction 1.

Works on the M77 northbound leading to the M8 eastbound will take place between 8pm and 6am each night from Sunday, February 4 until Friday, February 9.

Traffic will be diverted off the M77 northbound at Junction 1 and will be directed to turn left onto Dumbreck Road and right onto the M8 eastbound at Junction 23.

Local traffic will be diverted along Dumbreck Road and directed to turn left onto St Andrew’s Drive, left onto Nithsdale Road and right onto Dumbreck Road where it will be able to join the M8 eastbound at Junction 23.

This scheme, carried out by Amey on behalf of Transport Scotland, will benefit around 39,000 road users by improving the condition of the carriageway and reducing the need for more maintenance in the future.
